The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is celebrating a win after a combined team of staff and members triumphed at the Big Diversity Construction Challenge in Newark on Friday.

Competing under the team name Bricks & Giggles, the FMB secured first place with a five‑point lead over 17 other teams drawn from across the UK construction sector. The winners’ trophy will soon take pride of place at FMB Headquarters in Ely Place, London.

Throughout the day, at Newark showground, contenders tackled 12 high‑energy mental and physical challenges from human table football and model bridge‑building to a silent‑disco “name that tune” contest and a head‑to‑head It’s a Knockout‑style assault course. The event brought together teams from across the UK, showcasing the teamwork, resilience and problem‑solving skills that underpin the construction industry.

Carolyn Frank, FMB North Director, who was part of the FMB team said:

"The event demonstrated the power of collaboration and the positive impact the industry can make when it comes together. It also highlighted the value of connecting FMB members with one another. "

Nicola De Sousa, FMB Central Director added:

“It was a fantastic opportunity to work together, meet colleagues , members and other tradespeople from across the industry - as well as take part in something meaningful and positive for our sector.”

The event raised funds for CRASH, the construction industry’s charity supporting homelessness organisations and hospices, which this year marks its 30th anniversary. It also shone a spotlight on the sector’s growing commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) a priority the FMB continues to champion across its membership.
