FMB South speaks for micro and SME Builders at the Low Carbon Summit
October saw the southeast Low Carbon Summit, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders in the Low Carbon Retrofit sector - this included Local Authorities and organisations with a mission to raise the energy efficiency of our housing stock. As one of the main speakers at the summit, FMB South highlighted that with their agility and flexibility, small building firms were ideally suited to tackling the wide range of retrofit requirements in existing homes. However, a clear pathway is essential to supporting upskilling, access to equipment, setting a quality standard and matching installers to clients, thereby enabling building firms to develop their business profitably in this fast-growing sector. FMB South mini-conference Weds 29 November, in Swindon
The South West and Southern Counties will hold their individual Board meetings on the day at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre near Swindon. Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the FMB, will be speaking, and our guest speakers will include the CITB and LABC. FMB members in the South are welcome to attend as guests by prior arrangement. On this occasion, I'm reaching out to all of our members in the FMB South region to thank you for your unstinting support for the last 10 years that I've been in post. FMB South is one of the biggest regions within the FMB and has consistently shown economic strength and resilience during these recent turbulent years. I've been proud to have been your Regional Director, even more so when our 2021 Master Builder Awards national winner, Stonewood Builders, is from our region. I also thank both of our South Boards for their energy and passion for helping ensure that the FMB continues to develop as the leading membership organisation in the construction sector.
