As we move towards autumn, it seems a good time to reflect on my first few weeks at the FMB and share with you some of the things I’ve been doing and what’s coming up.
As well as speaking with, and meeting, my colleagues from the regions & nations team and from across the FMB more widely, I’ve also been able to catch up with a number of members from across the South region. From these conversations, it’s clear that they are proud to be FMB members and their passion for high standards and quality is something that I know all our members share.
Listening to FMB members
I’ve also been speaking with stakeholders from across the region to learn more about their work and priorities and to see ensure that the FMB and its members continue to be part of the discussions and the issues which matter to you are raised. These stakeholders have included CITB, CIOB, Chambers of Commerce, local authorities and colleges; all of whom can see the value of the FMB and you, our members. I’ll be sharing further updates on the outcomes of these meetings in future updates as well.
Upcoming events
Over the coming weeks I’m also attending a number of events across the region. These include:
ToolFair Exeter (27 & 28 September)
Kent Construction Expo (5 October)
Somerset Homebuilding and Renovating Show (18 & 19 November).
If you’re attending any of these or would like to get involved either now or at future events, please just let me know as it would be great to catch up with you. Here are a few ways to get involved:
- Ask an expert: Homeowners can make appointments with FMB members to discuss their project at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show's Ask an Expert area.
- Guest speaker: Giving a presentation on stage at one of the shows on a topic you're passionate about. It could be just you, or with your team. Previous examples include self build, retrofit and business growth.
- Panel speaker: If you can lend your expert opinion and enjoy discussion, you could join a panel on stage to talk about a project or take questions.
Keep any eye out for other updates from me and, in the meantime, please do get in touch with any successes, stories or anything else you’d like to share.
