Submitting a nomination for the 2025 Master Builder Awards is free, quick and easy to do. We recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to an hour to complete a nomination form. If you are copying and pasting pre-prepared answers into the online form, then submitting your nomination should take less time.

1. Log in or create an account
  • For members: Log into the Members’ Area using your FMB log in details.
  • For clients nominating their builder or apprentice: Follow the prompts to register an account and create a log in.

If you are a builder but not an FMB member and you would like to enter the Master Builder Awards, you can start your application to become a Master Builder today.

2. Select the correct nomination form

Choose the categories you wish to nominate for and follow the prompts. If you are nominating the same project for more than one category, you can choose multiple categories when you start your nomination. When you save or submit your nomination it will be split into the separate entry forms for each individual category.

If you are submitting a nomination for Apprentice of the Year, Outstanding Builder of the Year, Business of the Year or Workplace Culture Award please note these categories have separate entry forms.

3. Tailor your entry to suit the category

If you are nominating the same project for more than one category, we encourage you to tailor each entry to ensure you are highlighting information relevant to each category. For example, if you nominate a new home project for the House Builder Award and Bathroom Project Award, your entry for the bathroom category should contain more details and photos specifically about the bathroom.

To save time, you can start by selecting multiple categories and adding the general project details before saving the nomination. Once saved, the nomination will be split into separate forms (one for each category selected) including the general project details. You can then edit each form individually by going to ‘My award entries’ in the ‘MyFMB’ area of the website to tailor your responses.

4. Upload high-quality photos
  • Project categories: You must submit a minimum of five (5) high-quality images with your nomination. Images will need to be uploaded one by one and may take some time to upload depending on the file size. We encourage you to label your images so that you can easily see what images have been added as you go. You can upload a maximum of 10 images. Please email awards@fmb.org.uk if you have any questions about images.
  • Apprentice Award, Outstanding Builder of the Year,  Business of the Year and Workplace Culture Award: You must submit a minimum of three (3) high-quality images with your nomination. Images will need to be uploaded one by one and may take some time to upload depending on the file size. We encourage you to label your images so that you can easily see what images have been added as you go. You can upload a maximum of five images. Please email awards@fmb.org.uk if you have any questions about images.

Read our photography guide for tips on how to take a good photo or read our ‘Five top tips on how to prepare your nomination’ for information on why good quality images are important.

5. Review your entry and submit

Review your responses before submitting your nomination. If you have copied your answers across from a draft document, check that your content has been not cut off by the word count for each answer. Nominations must be submitted by 5.00pm on Friday, 10 January 2025.

If you are a member, we encourage you to also use the content from your award submissions to create case studies to add to your Find a Builder profile.
