In recent months, FMB and its members have been in strong dialogue with CITB NI on how industry levy funding is being used. As levy payers, you contribute approximately 95% of the funding available to CITB NI, so it’s vital this investment delivers real value for your business.

While we recognise that CITB NI delivers a number of useful programmes, many members have raised concerns about the level of support reaching SME contractors and the wider impact across the industry.

We have consistently pushed for two key priorities:
  • Greater support for employers in training and mentoring apprentices
  • Clearer, more accessible pathways to develop a competent and skilled workforce

A challenge highlighted by members is the lack of accessible support for SMEs, particularly as costs and responsibilities continue to rise.

We welcome the move towards a more visible and accountable strategic plan and will continue to monitor how CITB NI evolves to meet industry needs.
