The FMB’s Associate Members, Esteem Training Ltd are running fully funded Construction Supervisor, Manager & Leader development programmes throughout Scotland.

Fully funded SVQ3 in Occupational Works Supervision (OWS)

  • This Occupational Work Supervision programme is fully funded via the Skills Development Scotland Modern Apprenticeship Scheme
  • It provides a route to the Gold CSCS card
  • Not only is the programme free of charge, but CITB-registered firms can claim grants on completion to compensate for the time taken to complete the training – via the Short Qualification Grant (£1250)

Funded Build A Better Leader - SVQ5 in Construction Senior Management (BBL)

  • This programme is designed to develop individuals in a strategic management role within their organisation and is ideal for business owners, directors, senior project managers, operations managers or equivalent positions
  • The programme runs over six months, with face-to-face workshops every month
  • Following completion – delegates can progress to achieve the SVQ5/SCQF11 in Construction Senior Management. This is a recognised route to CSCS Managers Black Card and membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
  • Funding is available through the CITB for levy-paying members via the CITB Skills and Training fund  and the CITB Employer Network
  • The BBL Programme has been highly successful with amazing feedback from FMB members who have developed their people and leadership skills, identified business improvements which have resulted in making significant profit and / or saving their business money

  • Dumfries – 29 April
  • Glasgow – 1 May
  • Aberdeen – 14 May
  • Edinburgh – 12 June

BBL programme start dates

  • Glasgow – 13 June
  • Aberdeen – 1 September

Gordon has nearly twenty years’ experience of working in membership organisations in Scotland and joined the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) in 2014. Prior to this, he worked at the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) and for Unilever in business development, membership management and business-to-business marketing roles. Amongst his responsibilities in his role as the Director for FMB Scotland are public affairs, media relations, governance and representing member’s interests to Scottish policy makers and stakeholders within the Scottish construction industry. Gordon is the Secretary of the Cross-Party Group on Construction in the Scottish Parliament, and he is a member of the Scottish Building Standards Futures Board. Gordon represents the FMB on Scotland’s Construction Industry Collective Voice: which is comprised of the leading construction trade and professional bodies. In spring 2023 Gordon was appointed as an industry co-chair of the Construction Leaderships Forum’s (CLF) Transformation Board.
