I’m excited to be joining the FMB as London Director from the start of April. I’m very much looking forward to being a support for the London membership on the issues you face day to day and speaking up for the role of SMEs in tackling the bigger issues facing the construction industry.
My background is in construction media, having worked on the CIOB publication Construction Management for fifteen years on business development. This role involved engaging with many different organisations including contractors, architects, industry bodies, product manufacturers and tool hire companies on topics such as construction quality, site safety, digital adoption and skills – all topics that FMB members have vital views on which I’m eager to promote.
Championing construction
I’m really interested in championing construction as a career path, challenging the misconceptions about the industry and promoting the positive impact that construction can have on the lives of individuals and the wider community. With the government recognising the need to fill the skills gap in order to meet housebuilding targets, it’s a fantastic time to join the FMB to promote SME construction firms. FMB members can play a leading role in delivering high quality housing and in providing training for the next generation putting young people a positive, productive path in life.
I know working in London presents its own unique set of opportunities and challenges and I’m eager to meet and speak to as many members in London as possible to get a picture of the work you are doing and the issues you are facing. I look forward to meeting some of you at the London Master Builder Awards at the end of this month and onsite!
