We are thrilled to announce that tool provider Milwaukee have backed our Build Academy project by supplying a full range of tools and equipment for our learners.
Milwaukee is a leading global manufacturer of heavy-duty power tools, hand tools, and accessories for professional trades. The toolmaker has been designing equipment trusted by builders, electricians, and engineers for nearly a century. Their support ensures that every learner at Build Academy will now train using the same high-quality tools found on professional sites.
Equipping learners for success
Thanks to Milwaukee’s donation, learners will now benefit from using the latest cutting-edge tools giving them valuable experience working with the latest tech.
The full range donated includes a full range of saws, sanders, nail guns, impact drivers as well as all the hand tools and measuring equipment - everything needed to deliver real, site-ready training.
About Build Academy
Build Academy is a pilot programme developed by the FMB in partnership with the CITB and Shooters Hill Sixth Form College. It gives 20 young people the opportunity to develop site ready skills that really prepare them for employment within small and medium-sized businesses, smoothing the transition to employment and ensuring they’re ready to make an immediate impact to their future employers. The training curriculum has been put together in consultation with FMB members, making sure our learners gain relevant knowledge and skills for the SME sector. The ultimate goal is to help these learners secure apprenticeships and full-time employment by July 2026.
Why Milwaukee’s support matters
Backing from Milwaukee has enabled us to expand the skills we can teach the learners at the academy, making sure they have the right skills to join an FMB member as a valuable addition to their team.
Gary Stringer, Relationship Manager for the Academy commented:
“When learners train with the same tools used on professional sites, they’re ready to hit the ground running from day one. There’s no adjustment period or learning curve once they start work they already know how to use the tools safely and efficiently. Thanks to Milwaukee’s support and the high-quality tools they’ve supplied for the Build Academy our learners are taking another step towards being site ready”
