You may have seen my recent article about the Southern Counties Area President, Geoff Anderson’s priorities for that region following his re-election to the post. This time, we hear from Alli Gay from CHI Homes Limited who’s been re-elected as the South West’s Area President.

Focus for the board

Alli shared with me her thoughts on her re-election and what she and her fellow board members will be focused on:

‘It’s an honour to have been re-elected as President of the South West Region of the Federation of Master Builders. I’m deeply grateful for the trust our Board have placed in me and I’m committed to continuing the work we’ve started.

Alli Gay of CHI Homes Limited

‘Over the past two years, we’ve made significant strides in strengthening our regional voice, engaging with local colleges, and the public and wider industry and supporting emerging talent. These efforts have laid the groundwork for a more inclusive and resilient building community, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved.

‘Looking ahead, my priorities for the next term are:

  1. Championing New Talent and Neurodiversity in the industry
I’ll continue to work closely with educational institutions to create meaningful pathways into the industry. Our future depends on how well we nurture the next generation of builders, and I’m committed to making that journey accessible and inspiring.
  2. Driving Standards Through Licensing
I remain a strong supporter of the Licensing Builders Campaign. Raising standards across our sector is not just a goal—it’s a necessity. Licensing will help us build public trust, protect clients, and elevate the reputation of our members.
  3. Membership Growth and Retention
With national membership slightly down and South West numbers holding, we must renew our focus on member engagement. I’ll work with the Board to ensure our value proposition is clear, our support is visible, and our community is vibrant.
  4. Advocating for SME Builders
The strategic plan, Project Growth, reminds us of the economic and social value our members bring to the UK. I’ll continue to push for policies and programmes that support SME builders, especially in retrofit, new build and energy efficiency sectors where opportunity is growing

‘Finally, I want to emphasise that this is a shared journey. If there’s anything you feel needs attention—whether it’s policy, practice, or support—please reach out. I’m here to listen, to act, and to represent you with integrity.

‘Thank you again for your support.’
